Rustic Roads photo contest

Wisconsin First Lady Jessica Doyle together with the Wisconsin Departments of Transportation and Tourism wish to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the first-of-its-kind Rustic Roads Photo Contest held June 1 to December 31, 2004. The contest commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Rustic Roads program and designation of the 100th rustic road. Since local governments help nominate and retain jurisdiction over rustic roads, participating amateur photographers were asked to submit photos to the municipality (typically townships) where the road is located. Municipalities forwarded some 350 photos that will be used in future rustic road promotional efforts. 

Wisconsin’s 10-member Rustic Roads Board made final decisions on photo contest winners in each of the six photo categories. During a ceremony at the Governor’s Executive Residence on August 16, 2005, First Lady Doyle awarded a plaque/memento to award-winning photographers and municipal sponsors in attendance.
