Bike Buddy feature

Guy 1

It’s been so nice not having to drive to work every day.

Guy 2

Oh yeah, you’re doing that rideshare thing. So it’s been working out for you?

Guy 1

It’s been great! Not only am I not putting miles on my car, but I've been setting aside the money I've been saving on gas. Gonna do a little electronics shopping this weekend!

Guy 2

Big screen?

Guy 1

50 incher!

Guy 2

Sweet.

Guy 1

Hey… I see you hauling your bikes around on top of your car all the time. Did you ever consider stopping off at the park-and-ride and biking into work? It’s gotta be faster than dealing with the gridlock into the city.

Guy 2

You know, I've thought about it. But honestly I'm a little freaked out about riding in traffic.

Guy 1

So ride with somebody else. Rideshare’s got a program for bicyclists, too.

Guy 2

Seriously?

Guy 1

Yup. Rideshare's bike buddy feature matches you up with other bicyclists so you can meet and ride together. You can even indicate your level of expertise and get a match the same way. Just register your information on www.rideshare.wi.gov.

Guy 2

You know, that might just work! I’ll take a bike ride over gridlock any day.

Guy 1

Well, I'm outta here. I have research to do on LCDs.

Guy 2

Nice.

Commute Mode Tracker

Speaker / sound FX

(crowd noise underneath)

Listen up, everyone, I have one more thing I want to run past you before this meeting is adjourned. Who here wants a cleaner environment?

Sound FX

Crowd reacts. Voice in background says:

“and a raise!”

Speaker / sound FX

(Laughing) I know, silly question.

So I've been looking around for easy ways that we can help out together…as a company. And I came across a program on rideshare.wi.gov called the commute tracker program.

Person 1

Shhhhh, listen up.

Guy 1

The commute tracker program lets each of us generate our own carbon savings report based on how often we carpool or bike or walk into work.

Then at the end of the month I'll be able to generate a report that will show me how we all did…together.

And here’s what I'm thinking: for every month that we can reduce our carbon emissions over the previous month, lunch is on me.

Person 2 / sound FX

(Crowd reacts)

I want lobster!

Guy 1

(Laughing) within reason of course!

Don’t you think that by doing this as a group we’ll really be able to make a difference here?

Person 1

Let’s do it!

Guy 1

Excellent. Tomorrow we’re joining the commute tracker program. Each of you need to go to rideshare.wi.gov to register. We will make a difference. I’m betting lunch for a hundred on it!

Guy 2

(Crowd reacts)

(Announcer) Go to rideshare.wi.gov for information on the new commute tracker program for individuals and employers.

Feelin’ better already – Woman

Woman’s voice:

Don’t you just love the daily commute?

All the traffic and gas prices that are going through the roof!

I was stressed out even before I got to the office. Then I heard about the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s RIDESHARE program.

Now, I’m Feelin’ better already!

I just went on-line to www.rideshare.wi.gov, filled out an application and then RIDESHARE provided me with a list of carpool matches. It was that easy!

And now I’m driving to work everyday with Amy and Matt who work in offices close to mine. We meet at a park and ride lot and carpool in from there.

Even my boss has noticed a change. She’s looking into how our business can benefit from RIDESHARE!

With RIDESHARE, I’m doing what I can for the environment while spending less on oil changes and car repairs.

And with all the money I’m saving on Gas, I’m planning my next tropical vacation! (hmmm) I wonder if Matt likes to scuba dive?

Give RIDESHARE a try. What have you got to lose?

Announcer:

Feelin’ better already – Couple

Man’s voice:

Last month, Jessica and I were among the thousands of daily commuters driving alone to work.

Woman’s voice:

We were in our own worlds. Michael in his SUV and me in my Hybrid.

Man’s voice:

We were stressed out and gas prices were making it impossible for me to pay for my salsa lessons.

Woman’s voice:

Then we heard about the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s interactive RIDESHARE program.

Man’s voice:

I just went online to www.rideshare.wi.gov and interactively ride matched myself with Jessica! RIDESHARE is fast, easy and convenient!

Woman’s voice:

And now we’re carpooling to work everyday and doing what’s right for the environment.
Even my boss has noticed a change. She’s looking into how our business can benefit from RIDESHARE!

Man’s voice:

Plus, we’re getting to work less stressed and I have enough money for my salsa lessons.

Woman’s voice:

Hey Michael, did you ever think of doing the Tango?

Man’s voice:

Thank you RIDESHARE!

Feelin' better already – Group

Linda:

You know, driving alone isn’t so great.

Jessica:

Yeah, Linda lives waaaay out in the country, so dealing with traffic, parking and gas prices by herself got old fast!

Michael:

By the time she got to work, she had more stress and less money! (laughs)

Linda:

Real funny, Michael…anyway then I found out about the southeastern wisconsin RIDESHARE program. Now, I'm feelin’ better already!

Jessica:

I had just updated my online profile at rideshare.wi.gov with my new cell number and did a check for new ride matches; that’s when I found out about Linda!

Linda:

Jessica and Michael work right near me, so it was easy to join their carpool!

Michael:

We just meet at a park and ride lot and drive in from there.

Linda:

The parking is free and the lot we use has bus service, so on days when Jessica and Michael aren’t available to carpool, i can still park and ride.

Jessica:

I’m glad I updated my profile at rideshare.wi.gov and ride matched with Linda. With three in the carpool, we’re saving more money than ever!

Michael:

Give it a try. What have you got to lose…except your stress? Right, Linda?

Linda:

Don’t talk and drive, Michael!

Announcer:

Save 50 percent or more on commuting costs! Go to rideshare.wi.gov to update your profile, check for new matches and discover over 40 park and ride lots.

Announcer interviews people on the street

Announcer in slower, deep sounding voice:

Hey commuters of southeastern Wisconsin, what’s your story?

Man’s voice:

I’m really into high gas prices!

Woman’s voice:

I love paying big bucks to the parking attendant!

Another man’s voice:

I greatly enjoy large traffic jams!

Announcer:

You’re all kidding right?

Man’s voice:

Well, since I signed up with the interactive RIDESHARE program, I’m saving big money on gas.

Woman’s voice:

My parking expenses have been cut in half with RIDESHARE.

Other man’s voice:

With the interactive RIDESHARE program, I’ve found others to carpool with, giving me time to read the paper on the way to work.

Announcer:

So how did that happen?

Man’s voice:

I just went online to www.rideshare.wi.gov….

Woman’s voice:

…and was able to instantly get a ride match report!

Other man’s voice:

It’s easy to use with nothing to lose!

All together:

Now, we’re Feelin’ better already!

Cost calculator

Alan:

Yikes! I had no idea how much my commute was costing me!

I mean, I knew that traffic, parking and gas were costing my sanity - but then I went to rideshare.wi.gov and used the on-line driving costs calculator and found out how much it was costing me – in real money!

The calculator showed me that with what I was paying to commute everyday, I could send my kid to an ivy league school!

The cost calculator was so convincing that I immediately filled out an on-line application and RIDESHARE provided me with a list of carpool matches. I could not believe how many there were! Now, I carpool into work a few days a week and have cut my commuting costs down a lot!

If all my friends who drive alone to work would give this little calculator a test drive, it could start a carpool revolution! They’d really see how much they could save, plus they’d be helping the air quality in southeastern wisconsin!

Give RIDESHARE a try. What have you got to lose…except a lot of money!

Announcer:

See how you can save more than 50 percent on your commuting costs! Check out the costs calculator and sign up at rideshare.wi.gov!

The job interview

Boss:

Well, jimmy, that concludes the interview. Do you have any questions?

Jimmy:

I see health and retirement benefits…but do you offer RIDESHARE commuter benefits?

Boss:

RIDESHARE commuter what?

Jimmy:

RIDESHARE commuter benefits. If I work here, I’ll be driving a long distance and your parking lot is packed. Offering commuter benefits gives me an incentive to carpool, saving you parking and money.

Boss:

Saving me money, huh. How’s that?

Jimmy:

Transit costs and parking expenses can be deducted pretax, saving employees money and reducing company payroll taxes. Plus, you won’t have to build a bigger parking lot.

Boss:

I’m always looking for inexpensive new benefits to offer and I’d consider carpooling myself if it could increase the bottom line.

Jimmy:

There’s more information on rideshare.wi.gov. It explains all about commuter benefits, including guaranteed ride home programs and a reimbursement the company can get if someone needs to find another way home.

Boss:

RIDESHARE commuter benefits sound like something I should look into…

Jimmy:

I know I’d be more productive if my stress was reduced before I got to work.

Boss:

Makes sense, jimmy, you’re hired! You can start as soon as your carpool is put together.

Jimmy:

Pick you up at seven?

Announcer:

Learn more about commuter benefits at rideshare.wi.gov.
