Safety media campaigns

To save lives and reduce injuries by preventing traffic crashes, the Wisconsin DOT Bureau of Transportation Safety in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sponsors campaigns that mobilize hundreds of law enforcement agencies throughout the state to increase motorists' compliance with traffic safety laws. The high-visibility law enforcement efforts are combined with effective media campaigns to get more motorists to buckle up, slow down and drive sober.

In 2009, the following major statewide campaigns are planned:

Zero In Wisconsin - all year

Using compelling media messages during 2009, the Zero In Wisconsin campaign will demonstrate clearly and intensely how simple changes in driving behavior and habits - changes we can all live with - will prevent motorists from injuring and killing themselves or others.

Click It or Ticket - safety belt enforcement mobilization- May 18 to May 31, 2009

Local law enforcement agencies and the Wisconsin State Patrol also will team up throughout the year for special enforcement details that concentrate on areas where speeding, impaired driving and unbuckled motorists are prevalent.
