Environmental Assessment (EA)

The EA documents the need for the project, the alternatives development and screening process, the impacts of the preferred alternative, and the coordination with the public and resource agencies and is available for viewing.

Note - Public comment period ended Aug. 15, 2011.

Jul. 27, 2011 - Public Hearing to discuss the EA and present the functional plans to the public so they could comment on the study and its preferred alternative.

Following the comment period on the EA, WisDOT will address any changes found necessary on the document and the bridge location study will conclude.

Record of Decision (ROD)

ROD is final approval that is needed before an action analyzed in EIS may be implemented. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is lead agency and an EIS is prepared according to their guidelines.

WisDOT environmental information

WisDOT projects and construction sometimes change the natural environment around a project area. To minimize the effects of road construction and development WisDOT works to reduce change to the natural environment and leads several efforts to restore project areas.
