Project overview

Bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing on I-39/90/94 at the Wisconsin River Bridge.

This section of I-39/90/94, one of the busiest stretches of Interstate highway in Wisconsin, is heavily used by recreational travelers to reach Wisconsin Dells and northern Wisconsin.

Construction estimated to take place in two stages (work suspended for summer months):

• Stage 1 - Westbound (northbound) bridge rehabilitation
  • Feb. 20 - May 18, 2012
  • Sept. 4 - Nov. 9, 2012
  • Traffic to be shifted to southbound lanes, with two lanes in each direction.
• Stage 2 - Eastbound (southbound) bridge rehabilitation
  • Mar. 4 - May 17, 2013
  • Sept. 3 - Nov. 8, 2013
  • Traffic to be shifted to new northbound lanes, with two lanes in each direction.

Anticipate delays during peak hours, particularly westbound (northbound) traffic on Friday afternoons and eastbound (southbound) traffic on Sunday afternoons. Alternate routes are recommended.

Project cost estimated at $7.7 million.

Status/phase

Construction scheduled to start Feb. 2012 and be completed fall 2013.
