Interstates are important to economic development.  Companies looking to relocate or expand consistently report highway accessibility is key in their decision making.

Current (this year)

Federal grandfathering legislation that was needed to maintain the current weight limits on US 41 when it is converted to a Interstate was signed into law on Dec. 17, 2014. This legislation paved the way for WisDOT to complete the paperwork required to convert US 41 to an Interstate.

  • Apr. 7, 2015 - I-41 officially added to Interstate System by FHWA
  • Apr. 14, 2015 - Construction bid letting for signing plans
  • Summer 2015 - Signing installation begins

  • Nov. 2015 - Signing installation complete

Note: Future improvement projects will include updates to Interstate standards as needed.
