Location

US 51, in Minocqua and Woodruff, between Old Hwy 70 and 3rd Avenue, in Oneida County.

Overview

  • The intersections of WIS 70 west and County J will be reconstructed to include additional turn lanes and new traffic signals.
  • Reconstructing the roadway with new asphalt pavement and curb and gutter.
  • Installing new street lighting, which will provide uniform lighting along the corridor.
  • Replace storm, sanitary and water lines. This effort will also improve the storm water quality.

Schedule

  • March 31, 2014 - Construction began
  • March 31 to late June 2014 - Construction staged to allow one lane in each direction
  • July and August 2014 - To minimize impacts during the tourist season, US 51 will be open to all traffic lanes, allowing construction to continue on the side streets.
  • September and October - Construction staged to allow one lane in each direction.
  • Mid-October, 2014 - Construction scheduled for completion

Traffic impacts/Detours

  • US 51 and WIS 70 are open to traffic with no lane restrictions.
  • Crews will continue to work on the local and county systems in the Minocqua/Woodruff area throughout July and August.
  • Motorists may encounter traffic impacts on County J, Townline Road and Packing Plant Road.

Status

Construction began March 31, 2014. The schedule is dependent on weather conditions and construction status.
