US 10/WIS 441 expansion study - Public involvement

The public has been involved throughout the development of the US 10/WIS 441 expansion study, including refinement of the preferred alternative, data gathering and Environmental Assessment preparation.

Public information meetings (PIM)

Scheduled

  • New November 18, 2009 – PIM for renewed expansion study is scheduled from 5 – 7 p.m. at the city of Menasha Public Library (lower level, Company E room) located at 440 1st Street, Menasha.

Past meetings

  • April 2, 2009 - PIM for the renewed expansion study was conducted. Public was informed about the redesign of mainline US 10/WIS 441 from Tayco Street to WIS 47 and the potential for roundabouts at interchanges within the study corridor.
  • November 13, 2003 - PIM was conducted. Preliminary functional plans for the freeway expansion and preferred interchange alternatives were presented.
  • May 21, 2003 - PIM was conducted. An update on the study progress was given along with a presentation on the preferred alternatives at most interchanges.
  • October 29, 2002 - PIM was conducted. Preliminary alternatives for upgrading the interchanges and adding capacity to US 10/WIS 441 were presented.

Meetings with local officials and special interest groups

WisDOT held several meetings with local officials and special interest groups during the original expansion study.

  • October 26, 2009 – Meeting was conducted with local officials as part of renewed study.
  • March 3, 2009 - Meeting was conducted to update local officials of the renewed study.

Additional meetings are anticipated when the Transportation Projects Commission (TPC) decides to consider this project for future funding.

Participants include local municipalities in the study area, the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, economic development interests, chambers of commerce, and other local interest groups.

Agency coordination

State and federal review agencies have been involved in the study during data gathering, development, and refinement of the alternatives. Involved state agencies include the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the State Historical Society. Involved federal agencies include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
