February 18, 2014
Work starting Friday, February 28
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently approved $4.2 million to improve the US41/WIS 47 interchange in Outagamie County. Construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 28, weather permitting.
Vinton Construction, Manitowoc, is the prime contractor.
The work includes:
- Raising the bridge from 15 feet to 16 feet 9 inches. This is the last bridge along US 41 in Outagamie County to be raised.
- The 39-foot wide bridge deck will be widened an additional 11 inches with separated bike/pedestrian lanes added.
- Lengthening turn lanes.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
During the project WIS 47 will remain open with lane closures, but the interchange ramps will be closed for the entire project. US 41 will also have occasional lane and shoulder closures. The access to and from US 41 northbound and southbound is at the US 41/ County E interchange. The full detour route is WIS 47/ County OO or County JJ/County E.
Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
