WIS 23 reconstruction meeting scheduled

April 29, 2013

Public input needed on proposed improvements, detour during construction

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss the proposed improvements to WIS 23 between the west intersection of Green Lake County A to Arcade Glen Road (Fond du Lac County). Construction on WIS 23 is currently scheduled to begin in spring 2014.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brooklyn Town Hall, N5988 County Road A, Green Lake. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. Local community officials, property and business owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend the meeting. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting.

The objective of the meeting is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need of the project, updated project information since the last public meeting, and to obtain input on the anticipated traffic impacts during construction. Elements of the project that have been updated or changed since the last public meeting include:

  • A shared-use path near North Street in the city of Green Lake
  • Roadway alignments west of the Puchyan River
  • Construction staging and detours during construction
  • Planned detour routes

WisDOT is proposing to reconstruct WIS 23 in two stages. The highway will be closed and detoured during each stage. The WIS 49/Green Lake County A intersection will remain open to traffic with a four-way stop during all stages of construction.

Construction is scheduled for completion by late fall 2014.
