Governor Doyle announces $169,634 project at Rusk County Airport
July 23, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $169,634 project to acquire equipment at the Rusk County Airport,
near Ladysmith. The Governor's action releases $3,947 in state funds to procure snow removal
equipment and several attachments. Rusk County is contributing $15,687, and the Federal Aviation
Administration is providing $150,000.
According to Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the new equipment will allow for faster and more efficient clearing of the airport
pavements.
The delivery is scheduled for fall 2008, in time for the 2008-2009 snow season.
Facilities at the Rusk County Airport include a 4,000-foot paved primary runway and
3,200-foot paved secondary runway that accommodate over 8,000 take-offs and landings each year.
