Governor Doyle approves $453,205 project at Middleton Municipal Airport
July 23, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $453,205 project to construct a snow removal equipment building
at the Middleton Municipal Airport - Morey Field. The Governor's action releases $11,330 in state
funds to store the airport's snow removal equipment and the City of Middleton is contributing
another $11,331. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing $430,544.
According to Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will protect the investment the airport has in its snow removal
equipment and assures that the equipment is ready to use when needed.
The project is scheduled to begin in August 2008 and should be completed by November 2008.
The Middleton Municipal Airport is located in the northwest corner of the city of Middleton
on approximately 167 acres. The airport has two runways - a paved 4,000-foot runway and a
2,000-foot turf strip. Currently, 39 aircraft are based at the airport, and approximately 41,600
take-offs and landings occur each year.
