Governor Doyle approves $38,850 project at Watertown Municipal Airport
July 23, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $38,850 project to prepare a user study and master plan at the Watertown Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $971 in state funds for the project, and the city of Watertown is contributing another $972. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing $36,907.
According to Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project funds will be used to prepare and conduct a user study to determine existing and potential users of the airport; and prepare a master plan to define the needs of the airport and provide solutions to those needs.
The project is scheduled to begin in summer of 2008 and should be completed by spring 2009.
Watertown Municipal Airport is located on the southern edge of the city. The airport has two runways, a 4,429-foot paved surface runway with full taxiway and a 2,800-foot paved surface runway with a partial parallel taxiway. Approximately 89 aircraft are based at the airport and 58,000 take-offs and landings occur each year.
