Governor Doyle approves $2,061,832 project at New Richmond Regional Airport
July 23, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $2,061,832 project for engineering services and construction at
New Richmond Regional Airport. The Governor's action releases $51,546 in state funds to help
complete the project. The city of New Richmond is contributing another $51,546, and the Federal
Aviation Administration is providing $1,958,740. U.S. Senator Herb Kohl and Congressman Ron Kind
were instrumental in securing the federal funds for the project.
According to Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the funds will be used to reconstruct approximately 4,000 feet of Runway 14/32. The
project also includes construction of a taxiway, pavement marking, airfield lighting and safety
area grading.
Construction is expected to begin in July 2008 and be completed by spring of 2009.
Currently, 124 aircraft are based at the airport, with approximately 41,500 take-offs and
landings each year.
