Governor Doyle approves $275,000 project at Kenosha Regional Airport
July 23, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $274,990 project to purchase a piece of snow removal equipment
and design engineering for the west side hangar development area at the Kenosha Regional Airport.
The Governor's action releases $6,875 in state funds for the project. The City of Kenosha is
contributing another $6,875 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $261,240.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the funds will purchase a tractor with plow, broom and snow blower attachments.
Also plans and specifications will be produced for more hangar and apron space to store aircraft on
the west side of the airport, as well as a new electrical vault building.
The design project is scheduled to begin this month and should be completed by May 2009, in
preparation for construction in 2009.
Facilities at the Kenosha Regional Airport include the 5,500-foot primary runway, 4,400-foot
secondary runway and a 3,300-foot airstrip. There are over 260 aircraft based at the airport, and
approximately 90,000 take-offs and landings occur each year.
