Governor Doyle approves $3,312,306 project at Outagamie County Airport

July 7, 2008

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $3,312,306 project to construct an expansion for the main terminal ramp and the air cargo ramp at the Outagamie County Regional Airport, in Appleton. The Governor's action releases $2,649,846 in state funds towards the development of these projects, with Outagamie County contributing $662,460.

According to Andrew Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, this project will allow for future growth at the airport, both in passenger carrying and air cargo handling. The existing main terminal ramp is to be expanded to the west to allow aircraft to taxi freely around the west end of the terminal building, while still giving sufficient room for aircraft parking at the gate nearest the main terminal building. The air cargo ramp is to be expanded to the north to allow for larger aircraft to use the facility.

The project is expected to begin in Summer 2008 and should be completed by Fall 2008.

The Outagamie County Regional Airport is home to 52 single-engine, 13 multi-engine and 4 jet aircraft, and is served by four airlines. All together, there are nearly 50,000 take-offs and landings at the airport each year.
