Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 17 improvements
June 25, 2008
As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $528,000 contract to improve approximately 0.1 miles of WIS 17 between the south Oneida County line and Rhinelander.
Construction is scheduled to begin on July 14, 2008.
Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will replace an existing steel pipe arch culvert on WIS 17 with a concrete box culvert.
Construction is scheduled for completion by mid-September 2008, according to Richard Simon, WisDOT project manager.
WIS 17 will remain open to traffic during construction. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations, temporary traffic signals, and occasional single lane restrictions.
One hundred percent of the project will be paid with state transportation funds.
