Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 22 improvements

June 16, 2008

As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $635,000 contract to improve WIS 22 between WIS 156 and Lake Wagner Road in Waupaca County.

Construction is scheduled to begin on July 7, 2008.

American Asphalt of Wisconsin is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the highway. Improvements also include new pavement markings and signs.

Construction is scheduled for completion by August 29, 2008, according to Lynn Saeger, Wisconsin Department of Transporation (WisDOT) Project Manager.

WIS 22 will be closed to through traffic during construction. Traffic will be detoured on WIS 156, Shawano County K, and WIS 29. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
