Child booster and car seat safety check in Brookfield on May 29

May 20, 2008

Experts will help ensure your child is protected in case of crash

To help educate parents, grandparents and other adults who care for children about child passenger safety equipment and practices, a booster seat and car seat safety check will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Babies 'R Us, 18550 West Bluemound Rd., Brookfield. The event is free, and no appointment is necessary.

Safety experts from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Safe Kids Southeast Wisconsin, and the Children's Health Education Center will provide information, answer questions and help ensure that car seats and booster seats are properly installed. For more information, call (414) 390-2178.

Wisconsin law generally requires that children younger than age 4 be properly secured in a car seat while riding in motor vehicles and that children from ages 4 to 8 be secured in a booster seat. Visit www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/vehicle/child/index.htm for more information.
