US 2 construction update

Work completed since last update:
- The contractor completed removal of all existing concrete pavement in the eastbound lanes.
- Work continues on new sanitary sewer with one crew working in the area from Stuntz Avenue to Ellis Avenue.
- Temporary sheet piling was driven and excavation has begun for the pedestrian underpass near 6th Avenue West.
- Utility crews have been working on adjusting and/or replacing gas and electric facilities, mainly west of Ellis Avenue.
- All traffic continues to run on the westbound lanes of US 2 with one lane of traffic in each direction.
Anticipated work schedule for week of May 19, 2008:
- The contractor will complete excavating for the pedestrian underpass near 6th Avenue West. After some storm sewer and water main work, the subcontractor will begin constructing the south half of the underpass.
- Sanitary sewer work will continue with one crew working in the area between Stuntz Avenue and Ellis Avenue and possibly another crew working west of Ellis Avenue.
- Storm sewer work will begin mainly west of Ellis Avenue. As soon as the temporary traffic signals are installed on the detour route, eastbound traffic will be detoured to allow the contractor to complete a deep sanitary sewer connection at the Stuntz Avenue intersection.
- Utility crews will continue adjusting and/or relocating gas and electric facilities to make way for the roadway contractor.
