Governor Jim Doyle approves US 45 improvements
May 12, 2008
As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $6 million contract to improve 15 miles of US 45 between WIS 29 and the north Shawano County line.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin in mid-to-late June 2008.
Northeast Asphalt, Inc., of Greenville is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the highway to improve driving conditions. Crews also plan to add two sets of passing lanes and replace culvert pipes.
Construction is scheduled for completion by fall 2008, according to Jim Volkmann, WisDOT project manager.
US 45 will remain open to traffic during construction. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures and flagging operations.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
