Governor Doyle announces $53,000 project at Rusk County Airport
April 30, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $53,632 project to fund planning work at the Rusk County Airport,
near Ladysmith. The Governor's action releases $1,316 in state funds to conduct a user/feasibility
study for airport improvement. Rusk County is contributing another $1,316, and the Federal Aviation
Administration is providing $50,000.
According to Kim Kaarto, Airport Engineering Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the feasibility study will examine possible improvement of the airport's existing
runway.
The project is expected to begin in spring 2008 and be completed by fall 2008.
Facilities at the Rusk County Airport include a 4,000-foot paved primary runway and
3,200-foot paved secondary runway that accommodate over 8,000 take-offs and landings each year.
