Trucks

Trucks handle almost 90% of all freight tonnage shipped from Wisconsin, serving businesses and industries of all sizes and in all parts of the state. The state has a 113,000 mile network of state highways and local roads, including the 3,650 mile Corridors 2020 network of four-lane backbone and key connector routes.

The Wisconsin State Patrol conducts a variety of inspection and enforcement activities. Two key areas include the Size-Weight Enforcement Program to ensure that commercial carriers operate within statutory or permitted size and weight limitations; and the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program to reduce the number and severity of crashes and hazardous material spills involving large trucks.
