Reissuance of license plates
What is license plate reissuance?
- Reissuance is a process DMV uses to replace license plates that have exceeded their life cycle.
When does it occur?
- Once a license plate series has been identified for reissuance, it occurs automatically at the time a vehicle registration is up for renewal.
- Customers receive new license plates with a new plate number (unless you have personalized plates) and year and month stickers.
How much does it cost?
- With the exception of some special plates, there is no additional cost to you. Customers affected by the current reissuance will not pay additional fees.
