TraCS

Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS), an application developed by the state of Iowa in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), serves as a national model for the development of automated reporting systems for law enforcement.

TraCS is designed with modular architecture capable of sharing common data among forms and providing capability of incorporating crash, citation, OWI, commercial motor vehicle inspection and incident forms.

Technologies such as bar code scanners, digital camera and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) enhance the use of TraCS.

Automated reporting improves the accuracy, timeliness and ease with which incident data is collected and made available for analysis.

Wisconsin's version of TraCS is Badger TraCS.
