In order to use this system, you must have the following:

  • You must have an established Permit Customer account with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, OSOW Permit Unit. If you do not have an account or do not know if you have one, you may contact the OSOW Permit Unit at (608) 266-7320 to set up your account.
  • You will need to set up electronic security for your account (in the form of a Wisconsin User ID and password) via the online State of Wisconsin Web Access Management System (WAMS). Your Wisconsin user ID is the "key" to several Wisconsin electronic business applications, including OSOW.
  • Our OSOW routing system is not compatible with current versions of Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. You will need to use Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser. IE 9 will need to be run in compatibility mode. We will update our system in the next couple of months to be compatible with these browsers.
  • Follow the instructions below to set up and activate your WAMS account.
  1. Setup WAMS account
  • Log on to WAMS and click on "self-registration."
  • Complete the initial registration page.
  • You will receive an email link to complete the first part of the registration.
  • After completing registration and receiving "Congratulations!" go on to step 2 below.
  1. Connect WAMS account to OSOW permit customer account.
  • Email the following information (Attention: Ed or Kendra).
    • Company name/or individual's name if not incorporated.
    • Permit customer account number (from first paragraph above).
    • Employer Identification Number (EIN) (also known as tax identification number).
    • First and last name of employee as it was submitted to WAMS.
    • User ID from step 1 of WAMS registration.
    • Email address for the employee as it was submitted.
    • Phone number.

After we complete the registration (usually within 1 business day), we will email you the link to our secure web site and general instructions to get you started.
